

It is with great sadness that the family of Ema Udo-Ema announce his passing. Ema Udo-Ema, age 86, passed away on July 8th, 2021. He was born in Etinian, Nigeria. He was preceded in death by his wife of forty three years, Harriet E. Hayes Udo-Ema, older brother Bandele Udo-Ema, and his parents Mr.& Mrs. William Eakin Udo-Ema. He will be lovingly remembered by his children Etop (Araceli), Inyang (Lillian), Ita and niece Vanessa, who he loved like a daughter. He will be forever remembered by his grandchildren Isaac, Aliya, and Asia.
He holds multiple degrees from the University of Cambridge, University of London and Purdue University. He told stories of his fond memories from his time at John Kirk Memorial School where he attended from kindergarten to sixth grade. He loved education and learning new skills. He sought to instill these values in his family. His many professional honors include membership in the National Society of Professional Engineers, State board certifications in the states of Kentucky, Connecticut, Indiana and island of Guam, and he was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel. He was a person that really enjoyed being connected to innovation. In the early years, he worked on various projects such as solar panels that he tried to bring to Nigeria to help build their infrastructure and increase their capacity for new technology. He was an executive for GTE and told stories about the creation of the first cell phones. He enjoyed working on computers and what they could provide for the future. He was also an avid reader, particularly technical manuals to stay on top of new technologies as they were coming out. He enjoyed watching westerns, soccer and American football. He loved to travel and spent lots of time in West Africa, London, Saipan, and Guam. Above all of these interests, he loved his family. In his later years he always made time to accompany family and friends for meals, watching T.V. shows, discussing topics and sharing in special occasions.
A Celebration of Ema Udo-Ema’s life will take place at Mariposa Funeral Care and Garden, on Tuesday, August 3rd, 2021 at 9:30a.m. Burial services will be held privately for immediate family directly following the service at Mariposa Gardens.
