Florence Christine Kern, age 93 of Gold Canyon, AZ died on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at home surrounded by her family. Florence was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 25, 1919 to Anthony and Mary Malpede. She met the love of her life Herbert Kern in 1946 and raised six children, living a full and rewarding life. In 1972 they moved to Tempe, Arizona and then in 2003 to Gold Canyon. Florence will fondly be remembered for her devotion to her family, caring for her dear mother and grandchildren. She had a generous heart, amazing humor and nonstop sacrifice which proved her shining example of her Catholic religion. Florence is preceded in death by her husband Herbert of 56 years. She is survived by her children: Mary Fran (Jon), Ronald, Kathleen (Marty), Carolyn (George), Bill (Nancy), and Herb, as well at 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. George Catholic Parish, 300 E. 16th Avenue, Apache Junction, followed by a graveside service at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1500 E.
