Francisco Montes, of Mesa, AZ passed away on Jan. 3, 2016. He was born Jan. 10, 1926 in Dos Cabezas, Sonora, Mexico to Maria Lechuga and Francisco Montes Castenada. He attended school in Pacheco, Chihuahua, Mexico. Francisco learned how to drive logging trucks at the age of 16 and began working as a truck driver at age 18 while working at the sawmill. He worked for the feed mill at Snowflake Pig Farm until his retirement at the age of 70. Francisco married his eternal companion, Maria Vargas, in Colonia Pacheco on Dec. 19, 1959. He was a devoted member of the LDS church and loved to be in the service of the Lord. He served as a temple worker for 7 years. Francisco is preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother. He is survived by his loving wife; children, Oscar, Blanca (Steve), Joel (April), Hugo (Nicole), Lina (Jim), Diana (Darren) and Victor (Jill); 12 grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A viewing will be at 12:15 pm on Saturday, Jan., 9th, 2016 with a funeral service at 1 pm at the LDS Stake Center at 10305 E Southern Ave, Mesa, AZ 85208. A graveside service will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Mesa, AZ.
