

Gladys Bernice Charem passed away August 19, 2012 in Mesa, Arizona. Born in Chicago, Illinois to Charles and Anna Griebenow, Gladys arrived July 31, 1916. Gladys was married to Arne Louis Charem for 64 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a homemaker and babysat for the neighbors on her street. She loved her various dogs and cats that she owned during her life and even had a beautiful bird aviary for years. She and Arne loved their many walks along the beach in Southern California. After Arne's retirement they moved to Apple Valley, California and they continued their daily walks, and enjoyed visiting their children and grandchildren. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arne Louis Charem, sister Ruth Ogilvie and brother-in-law Bill Ogilvie, and sons-in-law Ed Sampson and Gary Smith. Gladys is survived by her son Steven Charem; daughter Donna Smith; grandson Scott Sampson and wife Amber; granddaughter Sally Karns and husband Chad; grandson Ryan Charem; granddaughter Kristen Charem; granddaughter Courtney Charem; great grandchildren Nathan Sampson, Lauren Sampson, Marisa Karns, Leah Karns and nieces Sharyn Kimmel and husband Larry, and Helen Ernst. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 11:00 am at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Care, 6747 East Broadway Road Mesa, Arizona 85206 (480)830-4422.
