My wife and I met Greg in the summer of 2021 at the Continental Golf Club. Greg was always so willing to give us pointers while we were at the driving range.  We liked his teaching so much that we introduced him to my mother, who, ended up taking a lesson from him. When he found out my wife was in the market for a 3 wood, he just happened to have one on his bag. She tried it out a few times and when she went to purchase it from him he said take it as a gift.  Greg will be dearly missed. RIP! Scott and Sachiko Plumley

My sincere condolences and sympathy to the Downey family for the loss of this wonderful person. Thank you for livestreaming the heartfelt event as I was unable to attend. I would always see Gregg whenever I was at the driving range and we became friends over time and he would always give me pointers on my swing when he did not have a student.
After some research I found that the name Downey name in Irish means "fortress holder" and it seems that Gregg, applied that title to his life in everything he did. 
I was raised Catholic and no longer practice but know that the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are the trinity, but in golf that is only a trreesome. It appears that they needed Gregg there to make up their foursome. I wish all of you peace and light in this time of your loss.

Was a truly wonderful man. So easy going, and made life slow down for us as we took lessons and talked about real estate along with life experiences. Looked forward to seeing him every time we were down to Phoenix. Definitely going to miss him. Our deepest condolances to everyone who was close to him.

Understanding why these things happen and that God is not to blame for them took away my grudge and at the same time a great weight from my shoulders. Actually, it's the opposite, He gives us wonderful hope that we're going to be able to hug and see our loved ones who have died again, doesn't He think it's I wanted to give him my heartfelt condolences for this loss. I can't imagine how much pain and anguish they must be feeling. Few things one says can alleviate in these situations. But what helped me a lot is what I would like to share with you.

In the book of Acts  24 verse 15 "God promises that there will be a resurrection," and what the Bible gives us is a real, solid, well-founded hope.

I have many fond memories of Gregg, and the Downey family. Going up to their cabin on the Hood Canal was always a good time. 
The first thing that comes to mind about Gregg was that he worked very hard (as did the whole family). When we were going to Portland State, a typical day for him was to get up at 5 am to 'shag balls' then attend class, take a 'power nap' then more golf.  Even with his busy schedule, we found time to socialize.  
He also had 'side hussles'.  Always looking out for revenue streams. 
He was a good man, and will be greatly missed.

So sorry for your loss. I met Gregg at Continental golf course earlier this year, he had a passion for golf but he was more passionate about helping people, seeing him interact with others at the range it was obvious he wanted to see others improve their game by lending advice. I remember my first lesson from Gregg instantly knew we’d become friends forever, he helped improve my game to playing the best golf of my life. I hope your family finds comfort in knowing he is the best golf coach I’ve ever met but was an even better person in offering help to others on the range. He’ll truly be missed at the range and anytime I go now I hear his advice in the back of my mind
