Karen, Kathy, Gayle - Most sincere condolences to all of you in the loss of your mother.  You do not know me although I have heard your names often.  My name is Darlene Hieb and I am speaking for the Widows Group your mother belonged to here in Bismarck.  We all were saddened when we opened the paper this morning.  Your mother was a wonderful friend and a joy to be with.  She was always smiling and up-beat, we certainly will miss her at our dinners. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Bean. I have so many wonderful memories of her and I feel so lucky to have had her in my life. I still remember the first time I figured out that Bean wasnt actually our blood relative - I was so surprised that she really wasnt physically related to us because in my mind (and I know in the rest of our families mind) she really was as much apart of our family as anyone else. I think I also thought her real name was Bean for many years :)! I never knew any different! I have been thinking and praying for  all of you. I picture Bean looking down on all of us and smiling!

I'm not real sure where to start but I know there isn't enough space on this website for me to share my feelings about Bean and all of the special things she did for our family! I am so very thankful for the memories I have of Bean and all of you as well. I am especially thankful that my children also got to know and love Bean like we all did. My thoughts were with all of you today and I am looking forward to the service in ND when I can pay my respects to a really great lady.

Dear Karen, Kathy, Gayle and family,
I've been thinking about all of you since I heard about Bean.  I will miss her so much but feel fortunate to have  many memories.  Christmas Eve was always so loud and fun.  Bean's presence, and laugh, was just part of the specialness of Christmas for me.  As I got older, I recall shoveling snow and raking leaves at Bean's.  There was no "quick buck" to be made, she always made sure I did a good job!  I'll always be thankful for those lessons!  In more recent years, I looked forward to seeing Bean each summer and having a good conversation.  Even in her last years she was sharp and witty.  
I hope you are all able to find some comfort in knowing how important Bean was to so many.  She will always hold a very special place in my heart.

Karen, Kathy, Gayle:
My aunt Susi (Williams) passed on the news that "we had lost our Jean".  I can think of no better way to put that - we have endeed lost OUR Jean.  I will miss being able to see her on my all to infrequent trips back to North Dakota.  She has always been such a strong and gracious person and I always enjoyed spending time with her.  I was always honored that she would take time to spend time with me. Ralph Sockman said "Nothing is so strong as gentleness, and nothing is so gentle as true strength.”  I think of your mother when I read this.  Thank you for sharing your mother with me.  I know she loved you all very much - it was one of her favorite things to talk about.

What words do I use to describe the meaning of Bean?  Sunshine, fun, laughter, joy, sincere, loyal, true, always available, interesting, smart, gifted, unique, thoughtful, humorous, positive thinker, magical, dedicated to family/friends,etc. etc. etc.  She set an example for others in so many ways.  My life was much richer for having her as the best of friends. Hours spent with Bean were delightful and always memorable.  Thank you Karen, Kathy and Gayle for sharing your wonderful Mom with me and with my family - She was our own Fairy God Mother.  Know I am holding you girls and your families close to my heart - today and forever.   Love you - Suzi

Karen, Kathy, and Gayle and families, I would like to express my condolences on the loss of your mother.  I have such fond memories of her from when we were kids.  She dealt with tragedy with such grace and strength and always maintained a positive outlook.  Your mother was a great comfort to my mother near the end of her life, visiting her in the hospital every time she was in Bismarck.  They shared each others pain over the difficulty in breathing.  I like to envision my parents dancing with yours in heaven now.  May your memories of your mother give you peace.   Laurie Zook Bader

When I die I hope people sit around and tell stories about things I did that made them smile and laugh.
I'm celebrating your fabulous life... I never told you I thought you were a TOTALLY AMAZING WOMAN IN SO MANY WAYS!(I didn't want you to get a big head, or hurt yourself patting yourself on the back) I will never measure up to your strength and grace....I am so grateful I stumbled into your daughter's life 18 years ago! (And she's just as awesome as you ) ! I'll keep an eye on your Mountain for you, but I'm sure you must have made a stop atop it on your way to Heaven! Oh, and Gayle will keep the traditional $2 bets going on major sporting events....You always WON, teaching me a valuable lesson about gambling...it's not worth it...oh and to let you pick the team you wanted....
 One day I'll stop into Applebee's for you and try those silly riblets you always talked about too... So many wonderful little moments that make me smile.........What about the arm sling you gave me for Christmas 6 months after you told me not to hurt myself patting myself on the back after I got a nice raise..HAHAHA that still makes me laugh til I cry!!!
So , as you once said "Enough of this closure crap"
I'll see you again someday and I'll finally get to meet Gayle's Dad then too...I hope he approves of me!! Make sure you grease the skids for me H.
