James Adelbert Luther passed away August 20, 2012 in Mesa, Arizona. Born in Los Angeles, California to Jay and Amelia Luther, James arrived on September 9, 1933. Proudly serving his country, Jim treasured his time in the United States Air Force. Being an “old school” kind of guy, he loved to watch Bonanza and other western movies, and listen to his country western music, and play the steel guitar. He was also known for telling the same jokes year after year… and still getting a laugh out of them! Jim could always be found tinkering with things, fixing them up, that is why his career as a mechanic fit him so well. Shooting was his main hobby, he enjoyed cleaning and firing his gun collection. He invented an alarm clock that could wake the whole household up, he was clever that way. Jim also had a fondness for World War II airplanes and ships. He was very scrupulous when it came to shopping at Wal-Mart, he would always get the necessities first, and then be found going through the DVD bin looking for the westerns he loved so much. Dining with his family brought him great joy, he looked forward to their time together. Most importantly, his love for his family shined through in all he did. Jim is survived by his children, Renee Marie Luther, Edward (Kim) Luther, and Kenneth John Luther, grandchildren Kristi (Jeff) Huggins, Jonathan James Luther, and Joshua Ethan Luther, and great granddaughter Jade Huggins. He is preceded in death by his parents, and children James Robert Luther, Daniel Wayne Luther, and Michael John Luther. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park & Funeral Care 6747 East Broadway Road Mesa, Arizona 85206 (480)830-4422.
