
James P. Sklodowski, Sr., age 71, of Phoenix, AZ, formerly of Wilmington, DE, passed away Monday, October 15, 2012. Born in Wilmington on Dec. 1, 1940, he was the son of the late Francis P., Sr. and Pauline Swiderski Sklodowski. Mr. Sklodowski was a US Navy veteran and retired from the irrigation/lawn service industry. An avid collector and sports fan, especially of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Cardinals, he enjoyed coaching youth sports and working in his yard. He loved showing his St. Bernard, Brandy, playing games and working on puzzles. Survivors include his children, Andrea Miller (Steve), Mesa, AZ; James Sklodowski, Jr. (Alesha), North East, MD; Jennifer Welden (Marshall), and Christopher Sklodowski (Stephanie), all of Wilmington, DE; sister Marcia Gruszczynski, Wilmington, DE; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and former wife, Mary Sklodowski, Wilmington, DE. In addition to his parents, Mr. Sklodowski was preceded in death by his brother Francis “Frank” Sklodowski, who passed away the same day. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am, Tues., Oct. 23, 2012, at St. John the Beloved, 907 Milltown Rd., Wilmington, DE, where visitation will begin at 10am.
