

James “Steebs” Edward Stieber, Col (Ret) US Air Force and Captain (Ret) Southwest Airlines, 66, of Mesa, AZ passed away at home on 15 October 2014 after a 28-year battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Born on 23 August 1948 in Evanston, IL, Jim was the son of Jack and Kathleen (Ammerman) Stieber.
Jim earned a Bachelors degree in Transportation at Arizona State University in 1970 and a Masters of Science in Management from Troy State University in 1977. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 24 years, to include tours in Southeast Asia during the Viet Nam War; he retired in 1994 and joined Southwest Airlines in 1996.
Jim is preceded in death by his father, Jack Stieber; mother, Kathleen Stieber; and brother, Robert Stieber. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Marsha Lynn Rudd Stieber; and many cousins.
Private services will be held at the National Cemetery of Arizona at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Jim’s name to one or more of the following and/or an organization of the donor’s choice: the Wounded Warrior Project; the Jimmy V Foundation; Folds of Honor; FCS Foundation.
