Born in Chicago, Illinois, Jeanne began her career as a licensed cosmetologist and owner/operator of Shear Magic Salon in Chicago. She also worked at United Airlines at Midway Airport where she met the love of her life and husband, Ray. When United’s Executive Offices moved to the suburbs, Jeanne and Ray followed. They bought a home and raised a family in Des Plaines, Illinois. While living in the Northwest suburbs, Jeanne returned to the travel industry in various capacities and, ultimately, owned and managed Luxury Travel in Deerfield, Illinois.
When they retired, Jeanne and Ray relocated to beautiful Tempe, Arizona where their daughters, Diana and Elizabeth, attended Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University; each earning undergraduate and graduate degrees.
During her active retirement years, Jeanne was a founding member of the Re-Uniteds; the Phoenix, Arizona Chapter of the Retired United Airlines Employees Association (RUAEA). The Chapter logo, which Jeanne designed, is still in use today. Additionally, Jeanne was a valued Tempe Police Department VIP “Volunteer in Policing” and an ardent supporter of law enforcement. In her “free” time, she enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, baking, shopping, and traveling.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond C. Adam, her brother, Frank Maggio, and her nephew, Robert (Bobby) Maggio. Jeanne is survived by her daughter, Dr. Diana Uyder (Brian), of Tempe, Arizona, daughter Elizabeth Valentine (Phoenix, Arizona), granddaughters Hannah and Jenna Valentine (Phoenix, Arizona), nephew John Maggio (Wheaton, Illinois), and niece, Barbara Maggio (Glen Ellyn, Illinois).
The family expresses sincere gratitude for the love and care provided by the entire Clearwater Living Ahwatukee Senior Living Community (Phoenix, Arizona) and Dr. Martin Rubin, Jeanne’s physician of many decades.
Private interment at All Saints Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum (Des Plaines, Illinois).
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.LakeshoreMort.com for the Adam family.
