Joseph is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rosa G. Muña and son James Muña. He is also survived by his sisters Rosita Rosario, Gloria, and Susana Muña, Bernadette Breton, Lourdes Toves, Sylvia Rosario, Juanita Ruiz, and Antoinette Flores; brother Herman and Ernesto Muña; three grandsons Joseph N., Salvador, and Tomas Muña. Numerous nephews, nieces, and in-laws also survive Joseph.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jesus Dydasco and Maria Quinata Muña; his sons Salvador G. and Tomas “Billy” Muña; and brothers David, Thomas, Antonio, and Albert Muña.
Joe was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of the American Legion Post 44, 4th degree Knights of Columbus, Guadalupe Lions Club, and boxing trainer at club SAR in Scottsdale. Joe was a member of various valley CB clubs, known as “Scottsdale Joe” and “Yellow Tooth Dolphin” He had a love of hunting and fishing in Arizona. Joseph was a friend to all.
Joe worked for the City of Scottsdale for 35 years. He worked for Sanitation and Fleet Management as a heavy equipment mechanic. After retirement, he worked as a motor coach operator for All Aboard America.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 20, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lakeshore Mortuary, 1815 South Dobson Road, Mesa, AZ 85202. A Mass of Christian Burial service will be Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Saint Daniel the Prophet Roman Catholic Church, 1030 Hayden Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85257, Committal service will follow at Saint Francis Catholic Cemetery, 2033 N 48th St, Phoenix, AZ 85008, and a reception will be held at Lakeshore Mortuary from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
