Larry J. Chauvin, 86, of Mesa, Arizona passed away on November 3, 2010. Larry was born June 11, 1924 in Stoney Point, Ontario, Canada to Alfred and Almina [Lemire] Chauvin. He was the sixth of eight children. Larry was a veteran of WWII serving in the Canadian Armed Forces (Army) and honorably discharged at the end of the war. In 1968 with his wife and six children immigrated to the United States (Arizona) and made a wonderful life there. Larry became a US citizen in 1975; for he loved this country with all his heart. As with many veterans of WWII, he continued his service to his fellow man be serving as president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Christ the King Church in Mesa Arizona for 12 years.
He had a great love for old western movies (anything John Wayne was terrific to him); apple pie, ice cream, bananas and cherries were his favorite foods. But first and foremost, was the love he had for his family.
He is survived by his loving wife Ella [Dunn] Chauvin; daughters Michelle (Ron) Youngquist, Julie Kaplanis, Belle Moser and Denise (Dave) Prechtel; sons John Andrew Chauvin and Harry Thomas Chauvin; sister Bella Atchinson, of Ahwatukee, Arizona; brother Art Chauvin of Belle River, Ontario, Canada; grandchildren Joleen Youngquist, Tyler Moser, Brittany Chauvin-Meade, Jenna Moser and Gregory Kaplanis and …..one great grandchild on the way.
In lieu of flowers, the family request a donation be made in Larry's name to Grace Hospice of Arizona.
He Only Takes the Best…………
God saw he was getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around him and whispered "Come with me." With tear-filled eyes we watched him suffer and fade away, although we loved him deeply, we could not make him stay.
A golden heart stopped beating, hard-working hands put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove, he only takes the best.
Amen
