Larry S. Phelps, 79, passed away December 3, 2012 surrounded by most of his loving family due to metastatic melanoma. Larry was born March 20, 1933 in Montpelier, Idaho. At age 18 he enlisted in the US Navy and was stationed in San Diego, CA. He served on the USS Yorktown #10. After his discharge he received his BS from Washington State in 1959. He started his career as a trainee and retired at age 50 as partner-vice president at Mannings, Inc. in San Francisco, CA. He served as board member of the California Restaurant Association for 15 years. He married Lola in 1967. They moved to Leisure World in 1985 and he served as president of the Leisure World Men’s Golf Club and Chairman of the Greens Committee. He enjoyed golfing 5-6 days a week and spending time with his golfing buddies. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and son Mark. He is survived and dearly loved by his wife, daughter Lori, daughter in law Sue, grandchildren Nicole (Josh), Ryan, Daniel (Keri), Elizabeth and Nathaniel; great grandchildren Raelynn, Briella and Drake. Private services will be held at The National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Arrangements entrusted to Melcher Mortuary Mission Chapel and Crematory.
