Laurie Lynn Kurandt

Laurie's journey began on May 9th, 1968, in Pontiac, Michigan. In the summer of 1979, Laurie's family moved to Arizona. Laurie enjoyed her childhood growing up in Arizona. Laurie graduated from McClintock High School in 1986. On July 22nd, 1987, her proudest moment in life happened when Marissa Lee was born. Laurie’s life was centered on being the best mom ever for her daughter. Laurie loved taking Marissa on trips and going sightseeing together. In May of 2006 Alexis was born and joined Laurie on her Journey. Laurie was so proud of her granddaughter. In March of 2010, Laurie met her future husband, Kurt. In June of 2015 her Grandson Lucas was born and joined Laurie on her journey. One of Laurie’s passions was baking with Marissa and the grandchildren. And a baker she was. She loved passing on the baking skills she had learned from her grandmother to her daughter and grandchildren. Laurie loved to travel and travel she did. Laurie and Kurt made several cross-country trips together. Laurie was in awe of the scenery. This was when she seen and loved the Golden Sunrise’s and Golden Sunsets in the Rocky Mountains and at the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Laurie loved the Trip to Mount Rushmore and loved the historical sights she visited during the trip. Laurie loved the trips to Washington DC. She was amazed at all the historical sites that she visited in person. Especially the Lincoln Memorial and the WWII Memorial on the National Mall.

Laurie's legacy of love is being continued by her husband Kurt, daughter Marissa, granddaughter Alexis, and grandson Lucas. Her brother Ken (Judy), Marcy (Albert) and nieces and nephews. Laurie was preceded by her mom Carol, and stepfather John Young, On her journey of life.

A Celebration of Laurie’s journey will be held at the Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park & Funeral Care, 400 South Power Road, Mesa, AZ 85206. On the 26th of September 2025, at 2:00 pm. After the celebration there will be a reception.

Laurie will be interned at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, Cave Creek. At a future date.
