Louise Monica Cole was born on April 17, 1937 to Doris Mae Smith and Johnathan Cole of Westmoreland, Jamaica. At the age of 84, Louise passed peaceably on March 13, 2022 at her home in Gilbert, Arizona.
At an early age, Louise always knew she wanted to explore the world. She had always been ambitious and believed that there was more out there for her to see. When she was offered the opportunity to move to London, England to start a new life, she jumped at the chance. She worked in various jobs. It was when she was hired to work in a sewing factory, she discovered a love to sew and create new projects. Her love for being a seamstress allowed her to create and design clothing for herself and friends. As she settled into her new location she met and fell in love with Vincent McKitty, from that union she had three children and started a new chapter in her life.
Louise believed London was not where she wanted her children to grow up. She was offered a chance to move to Los Angeles, CA. with some friends who were seeking a better life. So, she took a leap of faith and relocated. She was able to get a job as a seamstress doing something she enjoyed. In 1976, she had scrimped and saved enough and was able to have her three children and her mother join her. From that modest beginning and hard work, she was able to provide for her family until Vincent could join her. Louise sacrificed and labored until she could afford to buy her own house. Louise was always so happy and peaceful with her hands in the dirt gardening. She had a natural green thumb and seemed to give life to anything she planted.
Although separated from her native land by many miles and years. Louise always carried her strong Jamaican traditions with her which she proudly showed off with her Caribbean cooking skills. You didn’t leave mum’s table without your plate being cleaned.
Louise, the matriarch of the family lovingly called “Mum”, was known to friends and loved ones for being a hard worker and was devoted to her church family at Thompson Memorial Chapel Church. Since she had a passion for sewing, she would often be up many a late night sewing in her outdoor garage, making dresses and hats, and robes for the choir.
The biggest accomplishment of life that Louise has always been proud of was being a wife, a mother, and having an unshakable belief in God’s unconditional love.
Louise is preceded in death by her parents Doris Mae Wallace and Johnathan Cole, and her husband Vincent McKitty.
Louise (Mum) is survived by her son Kenneth Cole (Sara), her daughters Valerie Means and Millicent Bluett. sister Linda Cole, brother’s Sidley Brown, Courtney Cole and Calvin Cole. MESSAGE FROM EVANGELIST RITA PAGE
Unconditional love. Sacred love without no fear. The strength of her love was clear to her friends and her family. A testimony of her love itself was always a picture to all of us. When we looked at her, we knew she always loved us and she taught her family and friends the meaning of scriptures. For Lou knew a long time ago that her destiny’s reward was a stairway to heaven. We all love you, Lou, and we will see you on the other side.
