Maria Capola, age 71, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away suddenly on September 17, 2025. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 07, 1954 to parents Vasiliki “Bessie” and Gust Kouvaras. Maria graduated from Mather High School.
Maria was married to Michael Capola on August 14, 1981 in Chicago, Illinois. Maria had a 23 year career as a flight attendant for American Airlines. She was a member of Valley of the Sun Barbie and has a passion for traveling, crafting, making jewelry, scrapbooking, collecting Barbie’s and antiquing.
Maria was survived by her companion; Howard Rogowin, daughters; Candice (Eric) Langley, Nicole (Dave) Chapman, and Kelly (Paul) Howse, grandchildren; Jason, Julia, Alexis, Kylie, Zachary, and Gannon, Siblings; Evan (Eva) Kouvaras and Peter Kouvaras, and nieces; Kyla, Deana and Joanna. She is preceded in passing by her husband; Michael Capola and parents; Vasiliki “Bessie” and Gust Kouvaras.
A Visitation will be held in Maria’s honor on Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 3:00pm – 7:00pm at Mariposa Gardens; 6747 E. Broadway Rd. Mesa, Arizona 85206. In lieu of flowers, Maria’s family asks that you make donations to https://autism.asu.edu/donate.
