Martha Eunice Perry

Martha grew up on a small dairy farm outside of Detroit with three brothers, Sterling, Stanley and Norman and her parents, Roy and Elsie Card. She left the farm early in order to attend High School. This was a formative time in her life where she worked to earn room and board in order to attend school in Mount Clemens. After graduation, Martha worked at AT&T as an Operator, ascending to Supervisor.

She married Leland Dale Perry, an Air Force Colonel in 1944, spending most of their time in Virginia and New York. Dale and Martha had four children, Lela Dianne Boyle, Lee Vernon Perry, Kevin Taylor Perry and Karen Suzanne Wisely. She has six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. The couple would move to Arizona in 1960, when Dale retired from active duty.

She showed great love and generosity for her family. Subsequent generations and extended family were invited into her home weekly for a wonderful meal and to connect. Martha shared her love of elegance by setting a beautiful table and always dressing to the nines! Later in life she continued supporting the family by babysitting her grandchildren, taking them for famous shopping trips and sharing her hobbies of painting and cooking.

Martha spent the last five years in the loving care of her granddaughter, Valerie Redden who continued Martha’s family-first traditions by ensuring she attended all family gatherings and got to enjoy her great grandchildren.

Services will be held at Lakeshore Mortuary 1815 S. Dobson Road Mesa, AZ 85202 at 2pm on Monday, March 9th.
