Some thoughts shared by Kit Minnifield, co worker and friend:
· Loved flying, took flying lessons after retiring, loved everything about planes; loved to just sit on her front porch and watch the jets heading into Sky Harbor. She could tell you what flight paths they were preferring one week to the next and could use her telephoto vision I called it, to tell you what airline it was by the logo on the tail
· Avid crafter and excellent seamstress; did crochet, hand quilting, beautiful counted cross stitch and embroidery; impeccably-made clothing for herself, children and doll clothes;
· Loved the southwest and anything to do with the old west, the Alamo and San Antonio; collected dolls in Native American outfits; avid fan of John Wayne and his movies
· Loved to tell about her home state of Pennsylvania, and the Amish culture
· Avid baseball fan and fan of her Pittsburg Pirates; football fan when her Pitt. Steelers were playing; she’d get out her Steelers “Terrible Towel”.
· We nicknamed her the Energizer Bunny here at work. Petite as she was, she moved fast and was a tireless and dedicated worker
· A cheerful generous person even though she had many family tragedies and heartaches; she kept positive and upbeat and hopeful
· Loved her dear little cocker spaniel Ginger, who died several years ago
· Loved her home, her “Neverdone Ranch” as she and her late husband Bill called it
· Loved her Bill, to tell stories about how they met, and their life together
High Flight
Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I’ve climbed,
And joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds—and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of—
Wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,
I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through the footless halls of air.
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I’ve topped the windswept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or even eagle flew.
And, while with silent, lifting mind I’ve trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.
