Maxcine Doris McKelvey

Maxcine (Diedrich) McKelvey was born the 6th of 7 children of William and May (Nelson) Diedrich on March 9, 1931 in Estelline, South Dakota. Upon graduating from Brookings High School, she married James McKelvey on June 27, 1949. They raised their family of 9 children in Brookings, Aurora, and Sioux Falls, SD and Mesa, AZ. Maxcine had a long career as a cake designer, where she won numerous awards at regional decorating contests. She excelled in creative interests, including porcelain doll making, stained glass, sewing, jewelry making & ceramics. Throughout the 63 year marriage, Jim and Mick enjoyed playing cards and games, and ballroom dancing. She was an active member in the St. Vincent de Paul Society and Prayer Shawl ministries at Christ the King Catholic Church in Mesa. She loved visits with and getting calls from her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by 3 of her children: Kayleen in 1952, Michael in 1960 and Brian in 1983, her Spouse Jim in 2012, her parents and brothers Harvey, Orville, Bill & Martin Diedrich along with sisters Virgeana Biggar and Dolores McKelvey.

Survived by her loving children: Debralee A (Mark) Nelson, Mary Gael McKelvey, Jody M (George) Weeks, Timothy A (Nora) McKelvey, Kelly A (Robert) Martin, and Shawn T (Jennifer) McKelvey. Her precious grandchildren: Kam (Kevin) Sprott, Kayleen (Dave) Barcott, Teresa (Jerry) Crow, Cassandra (Jason) Blair, Ryan McKelvey, Mikael (Anne) Nelson, Patrick (Anthony) McKelvey, Connor McKelvey, Ethan McKelvey, Cameron McKelvey, and Isabelle McKelvey. Her darling great grandchildren: Timothy (Courtney) Shriver, Jared Crow, Rebecca Blair, Joshua Crow, Eliott Sprott, Audrey Sprott, Emme McKelvey, Zachary Blair, Bennett Barcott, Madelyn Blair, Carli Barcott. And her adorable Great Great Grandchildren: Renesmee Shriver, and Nathaniel Shriver.
