

Jose-Monico Ramos Espinosa’s last professional position was Assistant Vice President and Manager of the Municipal Services Department of Golden State Sanwa Bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Sanwa Bank, LTD. in Tokyo, Japan.
He was involved in commercial and international banking since 1969. He had extensive experience in domestic and international loan analysis and administration, and in Letters of Credit. Inherently, he was involved in domestic and international commercial legal affairs. He was equally at ease in wholesale banking, syndications: involving most international currencies (U.S. Dlrs., Deutsche Marks, Yen, Pesos, etc.) in amounts of, and exceeding U.S. $100,000,000’s. These funds were for the purpose of financing American and international corporations for public works, and infrastructures such as world petroleum exploration/development (including the Alaska Pipeline, Petroleos Mexicanos-PEMEX, et.al.), the construction of dams in Brazil, airlines, and aviation development.
During the Argentine/British “Malvinas/Falkland Islands” conflict of 1982, he was an active participant in the negotiation and the stabilization of the Republic of Argentina’s prior to joining Golden State Sanwa Bank, Monico (known as Mickey by friend and family) worked as a Corporate Office for Banco de la Provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina (the Los Angeles Agency of the corporate bank entirely owned by the Government of the Province of Buenos Aires), Dresdner Bank AG., Frankfurt, West Germany (Los Angeles Agency), Lloyds Bank California (Los Angeles), and, Citix Citibank (New York and South America). He participated in International Financial Seminars in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in Los Angeles, and at The International Banking Institute, at Bad Hamburg (a suburb of Frankfurt), West Germany.
Monico received his undergraduate education and B.A. Degree from Arizona State University, and, his Post Graduate Degree in International Management, Commerce and Finance from the American Graduate School of International Management (THUNDERBIRD), in Arizona. He did Post Graduate work (accounting and economics) at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA).
He was fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and English; with working knowledge of German, Italian and French. Prior to his involvement in banking, he was certified as a Secondary Teacher by the State of California and taught Secondary/Adult English and Spanish in the Bakersfield area in California.
In October, 1989 he formally retired from the financial industry for health reasons, and to follow more personal and family pursuits.
