Olympia married Americo Fiaschetti on May 23, 1953, in Watertown, and the couple made their home there until 1977 when they moved to Arizona. Although they missed their families and friends, they loved living in the Southwest.
During her life, Olympia worked in a variety of occupations. She owned two different restaurants – The Village Inn in Black River, N.Y., and Gaetano’s in Mesa, Az. She worked retail, trained and practiced interior decorating, was a bookkeeper, and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved to cook, sew and paint with oils.
She is survived by her daughters: Amerika (Tom) Davis of Williamsburg, Va., Alaina Hull of Gilbert, Ariz., Alyssa (Michael) Andrews of Mesa, Az., and Adina Slyter of Williamsburg, Va.; 11 grandchildren; sisters Geraldine (Carl) Lettiere and Patricia Spaziani, both of Watertown, N.Y.; brother, Anthony Spaziani of Fairborn, Ohio; former sons-in-law Andy Hull and Rodney Slyter; nieces, nephews and many loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Americo (Meek) in 2008.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Emerald Groves in Mesa for their friendship with Olympia. Their caring encouragement and companionship provided a contentment that none of us could achieve.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 16, at the Fiaschetti home, 3864 E. Omega Circle, Mesa. All friends and family are invited. Her cremains will be taken to Watertown, N.Y., where a funeral Mass will be held July 28 at St. Anthony’s Church. Olympia and Americo will be laid to rest at that time.
Arrangements are entrusted to Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Care, 400 South Power Road Mesa, Arizona 85206 (480)830-4422, www.MariposaGardens.com.
