Opal Lorraine Neujahr

Opal Lorraine Neujahr died peacefully at home and went to be with her Lord on December 29, 2015. She was born in Seward County near Staplehurst, NE on July 22, 1925 to Chris & Emma [Winkelmann] Hegeholz. Opal was baptized on August 16, 1925 and confirmed April 23, 23, 1939 at Zion Lutheran Church, Seward County, Marysville, NE. She graduated from Seward High School in 1943. On June 29, 1947 she married Del Neujahr at Utica, NE. They were blessed with two children, Coleen and Allen. In 1953 they moved to Tilden, NE where she worked in banks for 12 years, was Tilden City Clerk and retired from Nebraska Public Power in 1985. Del and Opal then moved to Mesa, AZ in August 1985. Opal was a member of Eternal Life Lutheran Church in Mesa. She was preceded in death by her husband Del, her parents, three brothers and one grandson, Brandon. She is survived by her daughter Coleen Neujahr of Mesa, AZ, her son Allen (Kathy) Neujahr of Gilbert, AZ. Grandchildren Kady (Brian) Cooley of Queen Creek, AZ, Jeremy (Audra) Neujahr, Chad Neujahr all of Gilbert, AZ; Jenny (Curtis) Liles of Chandler, AZ; four great grandchildren Julia, Max and Ivy Cooley and Tripp Neujahr. She is also survived by sisters Verdane Erdman of Ceylon, MN and Glorianna Hegeholz of Minneapolis, MN; four sisters-in-law: Evelyn Hegeholz,of Buffalo, MN, Jo Hegeholz of Ladysmith, WI, Maxine Hegeholz of Phoenix, AZ and Evelyn Brandenburg of Columbus, NE; one brother-in-law, Bob Ocken of York, NE. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 8, 2016 at 10:00am at Eternal Life Lutheran Church, 7025 E. Main St in Mesa, AZ 85207 with Pastor Martin Frusti officiating. Interment to follow funeral service at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park, 6747 E. Broadway Rd, Mesa, AZ
