Patricia Ann Cohen (1935 – 2011)

January 18, 1935 to October 14, 2011

Patricia Cohen, of Mesa, Arizona died Friday, October 14, 2011 in Banner Hospice Center after a short stay. She was born on January 18, 1935 in Baltimore, MD to John and Audrey Green.

She graduated from Baltimore’s Eastern High school and completed three years at Maryland State Teachers College at Towson before her first child was born. At this point she became a mother and loving fulltime homemaker for her family of soon to be three children, her husband and assorted pets. After settling in Ventura, CA with her family, she pursued an AS degree at Ventura College in accounting and worked part time in the field. Later she entered retail sales at two Ventura office supply stores.

She kept her family, including the pets, whole while her husband was away on long term assignments for our Navy. She loved her family more than anything – selflessly helping despite the sacrifice – never complaining. Her skills were many; loving to sew, quilt, and crochet for others till she couldn’t anymore. She supported and encouraged her children and grandchildren in their education, endeavors, and ambitions.

On retirement, she and her husband moved to Diamond Springs, CA where she established a close relationship with her elder daughter’s twins. Pat also assisted her husband in his consulting business through her extensive office products expertise and office management skills. Her support to her husband’s business continued when they moved to Mesa, AZ. She was that cheerful, pleasant, and helpful voice that callers remarked about.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ross; her daughters Deborah and Dawn; her son Douglas; her sister Phyllis Treadwell; her six grandchildren; her six great grandchildren; and beloved canine, Kiabab.

She was buried at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park before sundown, Friday, October 14, 2011.
