Paul A James

Paul Arthur James, age 75, of Gilbert, Arizona, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, after being diagnosed with Stage IV prostate cancer in 2019. He was known by many names besides Paul, including Art, Uncle Paul and Papa P.

He was born in Upland, California on January 22, 1949.

Paul was married to wife, Ronda, on October 28, 1978, in Inglewood, California; they moved to Arizona in 1981.

Paul had a varied working career, and retired in 2014 after 16 years with the US Postal Service. He enjoyed photography, nature hikes, and maintained a strong connection and affinity for the Pacific Ocean. He was also a veteran, having served 6 years in the Army National Guard.

Paul is survived by his wife, Ronda; his children, Ashlee Singleton (Samantha); Alex James (Isabel); grandchildren Tawnie, Jeremiah, and Bodhi Singleton; sisters, Lisa James and Rosemary Mabe (William). He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, brother-in law, aunts, cousins, and many nieces and nephews.

Paul was everyone’s “Dad”; he had a way of making sure that anybody who needed him knew he was there for them. Paul was the gentlest of men, kind and humble, and dearly admired by family and friends near and far; his loss is felt deeply by all who knew him. We will miss his loving kindness, sense of humor, and his ability to always save “stuff for something”.
