Paul was born November of 1946, in Maryland to his parents, Ruth and Paul Sr. After high school, Paul joined the Navy looking for adventure and to see the world. He proceeded to make a career of it, quickly rising through the enlisted ranks as a Mess Specialist-making Master Chief in just 16 years. In addition to making rank while serving, he also attended and graduated from the Culinary Institute of America. Paul completed 3 tours in Vietnam from 1969-1972. On his 3rd tour in Vietnam, Paul received a Bronze Star with Valor for Heroic achievement under combat conditions. He served aboard ships, submarines and river boats. In addition to running the mess halls; he carried the M-60; was a translator; and was a culinary instructor. After serving a distinguished 26 years, Paul retired in 1990 in Washington State.
Paul was a patient and supportive leader with a passion for travel, cigars and good coffee. He was a single dad, who did his best to juggle a Naval Career and a set of twins born in 1978. He exemplified the Navy Core Values of Honor-Courage-and Commitment, and went above and beyond the call of duty no matter what he was doing. He was known for his genuine warmth and friendliness, which allowed him to accrue friends all over the world. Paul was also a loving, dependable and caring father & husband. He is best known for yelling "OORAH!" - a popular Marine/Navy battle cry when friends were around.
The Master Chief is survived by his wife Connie, his son Michael, and his Daughter Avet and her children.
