Born to Thomas and Maxine Krichbaum on August 2nd, 1941, Peggy went to Northwestern High School in Albion, Pennsylvania, where she met the love of her life, Arthur Lee Van Slyke, leading to 53 years of marriage. Together they built a beautiful life centered around their five children and hard work.
For 25 years, Peggy & Arthur owned and operated Van Slyke's Food Mart in McKean, Pennsylvania - a cornerstone of their community and a reflection of their dedication and work ethic. Upon retiring, they fulfilled their dream of moving to Arizona to enjoy the sunshine and be closer to family.
True to her strength and determination, she stayed with us longer than any of us could have imagined, allowing precious time to share stories, laughter and love. Surrounded by her children in her final weeks, we were blessed with moments of reflection and gratitude, revisiting cherished memories and stories of the life we shared with her. She will be deeply missed beyond words, but we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with her beloved husband, Arthur, along with her sister, mother and father.
Peggy's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her children Carol Joanne Van Slyke Daniels (and partner Carl Spears), Timothy Lee Van Slyke & wife Cynthia, Brenda Kay Van Slyke, John Arthur Van Slyke and Debra Lynn Van Slyke Sande (and partner Jeffery Strada) and many loving grandchildren, Jeremy Daniels, Scott Daniels, Jessica Van Slyke Myers & Jonathan, Thomas Van Slyke, Jillian Van Slyke Mahan & Travis, Isiah Paul & Abby, Grace Paul Roland and husband Braden, Lelaina Paul, Kensei Van Slyke, Eric Van Slyke, as well as great-grandchildren: River, Alexa, Andrea, Matteo, and Parker. Each of them carries forward a piece of her love, warmth and strength.
Peggy will be remembered for her unwavering love, her honesty, her creativity and the way she brought people together. Her home was always filled with laughter, delicious meals, and the comforting presence of someone who cared deeply for those around her. She lived a full and meaningful life, leaving behind a legacy of love that will live on in her family forever.
