They have two sons, Larry (Jan); Stanley (Carla); three grandsons, and six great-grandchildren. Pete grew up on a family dairy farm in Muskegon, Michigan, served in the Navy during WWII, returned home, married, and was the premier flooring and countertop installer during his 43 year career in the Muskegon area. Upon retiring he was Betty’s third grade classroom assistant adored by many children especially those that needed a father figure. Upon Betty’s retirement they ventured into arts and crafts making and selling doll clothes and Christmas tree skirts. They lived in Florida for a short time but fell in love with Arizona making their permanent residence at Hacienda de Valencia in 1996. Pete was well known throughout the park primarily for making clubhouse morning coffee, kitchen manager for the men’s breakfast, and maintaining the shuffleboard facility. His hobbies included coin and stamp collecting , desert exploration with his sons, and helping Prospector John. Pete loves the Arizona sunsets, so when you see the sun starting to descend down over the mountains and the colorful night sky appear think of Pete as he is showing his thoughts to you.
