

Preston Martineau was born August 5, 1941 in Murray, Utah at Cottonwood Maternity Hospital to Preston Albert Martineau and Gladys Mae Nielsen Martineau. Graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City. Attended Salt Lake Vocational School in Architectural Drafting. Also attended the University of Utah and was on the Fencing Team there. Later attended Mesa Community College in Arizona to become a certified Millwright and Machinist. Worked for Utah State Road Commission as a Surveyor; worked for Kennecott Copper Corp for 21 years as a Millwright; worked at M.E.Globall and Magiteau Foundry. His most favorite job was working for Symbian, Inc. in Salt Lake City, Utah as an Electro-Mechanical Technician developing one of the first artificial Jarvic Hearts. Preston also worked for the National Security Agency as a Boiler Water Technician. His co-workers referred to him as 'the wrench' because he could fix anything. Preston married Nancy Caldwell in 1971 and happily married for over 49 years. They were later sealed in the Jordan River Temple. At the time Nancy had three children who he considered to be his own and adopted some years later. He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held the office of High Priest. He served as an ordinance worker at the Washington DC Temple, the Mesa Arizona Temple and the Gilbert Arizona Temple for many years. Preston served 7 years in the U.S. Army Reserves as an Aircraft Mechanic to fixed-wing tech inspector with a rank of E-6. Preston volunteered countless hours for the Community Emergency Response Team, Tempe AZ... This was one of his favorite ways of serving. He loved to spend time in his garage working with wood and made one-of-a kind pens as gifts to missionaries and friends. After a battle with Alzheimer's Disease, Preston died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on January 30, 2021. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Chey Martineau; sons, Carl Preston Martineau and Clint G. Martineau; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann Vergara, Susan M. Jones and Mary M. Martineau; brother, Allan F. Martineau. Funeral services will be held February 9 at 11 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 2520 N. Hartford St., Chandler, AZ 85225. Covid masks required. Graveside service will be held at the Holladay
Memorial Cemetery in Holladay Utah on February 11, 2021 at 12:00 pm. In lieu
