

Ramon Medina Arteaga, passed away on the morning of November 5. Born in Phoenix in 1941, ‘Ray’ was a fun loving husband and father who was happiest being with his family, gardening, cooking and watching Sun Devil athletes. Ray was employed in numerous management positions with Edison Bros. Stores and Switzer’s Woman’s Apparel. Also employed by Maricopa County Dept. of Medical Eligibility, he retired in 2004.
A lover of music and dancing, Ray played saxophone with the Phoenix Union High School band and the Arizona National Guard Band. An avid athlete in his younger days, Ray enjoyed organized sports, especially softball and golf. The family agrees that Ray had a full and great life.
Preceded in death by sister Evangeline, father Jesus and mother Amalia Medina Arteaga. Survived by his loving wife Maria Dolores (Martinez) Arteaga, daughters Rebecca and Anita. Also survived by brothers Charlie and John Arteaga and sister Mary Dolores Arteaga.
A celebration of Ray’s life will be held at Lakeshore Mortuary, 1815 S. Dobson Road, Mesa, AZ at 10:00am, Thursday, Nov. 12. With reception to follow at the family home.
