Rex Lee Huggins passed away on December 27th, 2024. He was born on September 11th, 1935, in a home next to a mountain in Lugert, Oklahoma to parents, Rose Vernon Scott and Howard Rex Huggins, who preceded him in death as well as his half-sister Ruth Ann Capehart.
Rex is survived by his wife, Barbara, whom he married on December 7th, 1973, in Long Beach, California. Rex is survived by daughters Sheree Phillips (Dennis) and Kim Preston (George), Son Kenny Huggins and Stepdaughter Tami Lorenzen-Fanselow (Bob)) as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Rex was a Navy Veteran serving from 1953-1956 in California and resided there upon his discharge. He then settled in Lander, Wyoming on a ranch on the Wind River Indian Reservation for 41 years. After retiring (which he did several times before it became permanent) he became a snowbird in Mesa, Arizona in 2013 and moved there permanently in 2017.
Wyoming was his cowboy adventure having a place to raise horses, cattle, pigs, chickens and rabbits. He loved the wide-open spaces with few neighbors and six miles out of town. He enjoyed hunting on horseback in the winter and enjoyed cooking at the cow campgrounds and throughout his life for his family and especially during the holidays.
