

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary Kay Wittreich (Clifford); his cherished daughter Mary Therese (Darrin) and devoted son Mike Wittreich (Michael); two grandsons; Ryan (Kelsey); Justin (Morgyn) and four great-grandchildren; Kayden, Kamryn, Kynslee, Weston; brother Charles Wittreich and sister Nancy Hriz.
A proud patriot, Richard dedicated his life to serving his country. He enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served with distinction, including time in Vietnam. After 20 years of honorable service, he retired as a respected veteran, leaving behind a legacy of loyalty, courage, and sacrifice.
Throughout his life, Richard found great joy in his woodworking shop, where he showcased his skills as a Master Craftsman, creating pieces that will be treasured by his family and friends for generations. Beyond his craftsmanship, he was an active volunteer with the Knights of Columbus and Hospice, giving selflessly to his community. Playing Santa Clause at the VA Hospital for 20 years brought him much joy.
Richard embraced life in his later years, enjoying the simple pleasures of retirement. He spent many happy hours playing darts, poker, bocce ball and horseshoes. His love for the outdoors, fishing and hunting made his life rich and fulfilling.
Richard's life was a testament to his faith, hard work, devotion to family, and service to his country and others. He will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
May he rest in peace.
Services will be held on Saturday, October 19th at 12:00 Noon at Christ the King Catholic Church: 1551 E. Dana Ave. Mesa, AZ 85204.
