

Robert R. Reiber, 93 of Mesa, Az. Passed away on July 2, 2015. He was born August 22, 1921 in Bellefonte, Pa. to William D. Reiber and Mary Jane Sampsell. Robert served in the U.S.Army Air Force from 1940 until 1945 during which he witnessed the first Atomic Bomb dropped in Nevada and was a survivor of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. (He swears he fired the first shot of the war for our side). Following the war, he married Helen Vandenbosch on August 28 1948, completed his college at Bucknell University and was recalled to active military duty for the Korean War. Upon his return he took a job with Aetna Life and Casualty where he worked until he retired in 1981. After retiring from Aetna, he went on to volunteer with the Iowa Office of the Attorney General for another 23 years and was instrumental in the financing and construction of the Pearl Harbor Memorial which now stands on the State Capitol Grounds in Des Moines Iowa. Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife Helen R. Reiber who passed away on November 6, 2009 and is survived by his sons Robert, Terrell and Daryl and his daughter Linda Reiber: seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, July 11 at Mariposa Gardens Funeral Care, 400 South Power Road, Mesa, Az 85206
