

Ron was born in North Platte, Nebraska on March 12th, 1935.
He was one of the 176 North Platte “Bulldogs” graduating from North Platte High School in 1954.
Ron loved school sports and was on the track team, and was a member of the school boxing club and became a member of the Golden Glove Boxing League.
Ron joined the US Navy in July of 1954, and served on the USS NEREUS (AS-17) stationed in San Diego.
Ron was an Electricians Mate, Second Class, until his honorable discharge in June of 1958. He remained a member of the Golden Glove Boxing League while in the Navy.
Ron married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Marilyn Rinehart, in December of 1954. They remain married to this day, although Marilyn passed away with Ron by her side in December of 2020.
After the Navy Ron and Marilyn moved to Arvada Colorado where they raised their three children. He worked at Rocky Flats, a US Government plutonium producing facility, retiring in 1996.
In 2001 Ron and Marilyn moved to the warm climate of Mesa, Arizona to be closer to their two children where he enjoyed long walks, bowling, and shuffleboard and many church activities. He also volunteered helping with handy-man activities/maintenance at a large boy’s home in Mesa.
His greatest joys were spending the many hours with all the grandchildren and family.
Ron was always very active in his church, knowing every member of the congregation, and always volunteering any chance he could with the activities. Ron loved being an usher and greeter, and was there every Sunday morning.
While in Denver Ron served as a Deacon of the church, an usher, and spent many years teaching Sunday school.
He went on two missions to Columbia with his congregation to help the Seminario Biblico De Columbia expand their small campus, and returned for a second trip to help build homes for the less fortunate in Medellin, Columbia.
Ron is survived by his three children, Christy Sproul, Steve Whiting and Jeff Whiting. A sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Gary Rickett, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
