

She was born on May 25, 1937 in Kaleva, Michigan to Martin and Toini Sandell where she grew up on a small farm with 4 brothers and 2 sisters. She is predeceased in death by her father, mother, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Ruth leaves behind her loving husband John Lazur, daughter Kristy Lazur, son Michael Lazur, daughter in law Michelle Lazur, granddaughter Skylar Sibbett, and brother Bill Sandell as well as many nephews and nieces.
After she graduated from High school in 1954, she moved to Detroit, Michigan to start her long-standing 32-year career as an executive secretary with General Motors, retiring in 1986 at the age of 49. Her career included working at Detroit Diesel, Cadillac Motor Division, General Motors Institute (GMI), GM Legal Staff and GM Human Resources. While at Cadillac, she witnessed Elvis Presley picking up his Pink Cadillac!
Ruth was a wonderful cook who loved to prepare great dinners, always looking for different recipes on the internet to enhance her dinner menus. She snow skied, played golf/ cards, and went to the movies. She loved to travel and did to many places, France, Italy, England, Scotland, Germany, Hawaii and Australia. Ruth also loved to go on cruises and did to the Caribbean, Panama Canal, Baltic, Mediterranean, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, and Rine River Cruise. Her real passion though was reading books regarding Politics, Religion, True Stories and Famous People. Ruth has always loved Dogs although later in life she could not care for them but that didn’t diminish her love for them whenever she encountered them.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church 481 Snead Dr. Crossville, Tennessee at 11:00 AM on April 5, 2025
