She was born in Los Angeles, CA on June 28th, 1965. She primarily grew up in Sandy, UT scooting around in a Light Tan VW Bug (that could not go in reverse) until her family moved to Tempe, AZ in 1981 and she graduated from Marcos De Niza HS two years later. That summer, she married her lifelong love, Scott Pederson on June 4th. They started their marriage in a leaky apartment full of love. Scott and Shauna were blessed with three beautiful children, Jimmy, Erik, and Jill. Jimmy was her intellectual, Erik was her wild flower and Jill was her sweet pea. Shauna encouraged her children’s interest in any extracurricular activity. She was always involved, and Shauna and Scott were at every performance. Shauna’s dream in life was to be a mom and she was an incredible support for her babies. Shauna and Scott raised their family in Buena Park, CA until moving back to Mesa, AZ in 2006.
Shauna pursued various careers until she completed her studies as a phlebotomist. She was most recently employed with Chandler Regional Medical Center and her coworkers described her as spunky and sassy and the life of the department. Shauna loved her job and loved helping people in any way.
Her true passion in life was her grandbabies. The moment she found out she was going to be a grandma, she focused her whole life on loving her grandchildren, Jackson Scott, Julian Erik, Joshua Lee, and Amelia Faye. She loved spending time with them. Her grandbabies will dearly miss the sleepovers, trips to QT, swimming in the pool, and baking cupcakes. Shauna never missed a karate practice, school event, or being present in their daily lives.
Shauna graciously opened her heart and home to those who needed a place to stay and the love of a mother. She was passionate for many causes including adopting two elephants in Africa. Shauna was a very giving person and loved to spread happiness. She was an ally to all and accepted any person as they were with open loving arms.
During the last few years, Shauna enjoyed traveling with Scott as he worked in Ireland, Costa Rica, and they vacationed in Maui.
Shauna is survived by her husband Scott, their children Jimmy (Lacey), Erik, and Jillian (Anthony), grandchildren Jackson, Julian, Joshua, and Amelia, her mother Terri Bowen, bonus-mom Nancy Bowen, siblings Adrian Bowen (Nichole), Ty Bowen, Lisa Irick (Kevin), Steve Culbertson (Tina), Mike Culbertson (Kendra), and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her Granny Edna Faye, father James Bowen, and sisters Dayna Bowen-Ulibarri and Michelle Bowen.
A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held on Monday, May 27th, 2024.
