Shirley Mae Splinter

Funeral services will be held on August 6, 2022, at the Mariposa Gardens in Mesa, AZ

with visitation starting at 9:00 AM followed by Memorial Service and Graveside Service

at 10:00 AM.

Shirley Mae (Krause) Splinter was born April 4, 1935, on the family farm just south of

Revillo, SD. She was the daughter of Harley and Esther (Aslakson) Krause. Shirley grew

up on the family farm graduating from Revillo High School as Salutatorian of her Class

in 1953. On November 10, 1955, Shirley married Robert (Bob) Splinter at the St.

Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank SD.

Bob and Shirley raised their four children in Milbank, SD at which time Shirley was

employed as a bank teller with Dakota State Bank. In 1979, Bob and Shirley moved to

Grand Junction, CO where Shirley continued her banking career with US Bank. In 1983,

Bob and Shirley moved to Arizona making their home in Apache Junction, AZ. While

residing in Arizona, Shirley worked for Bank of America until her retirement in 1995.

Following Bob’s death in 2000, Shirley moved to the Fountain of the Sun Retirement

Community where she resided until moving to the Senita Ridge Memory Care Center in

2007. Shirley suffered from Dementia in her later years of life.

During her days of living in Milbank, Shirley enjoyed playing bridge, bowling, and

playing golf. Shirley enjoyed traveling as she would visit her friends in the Milbank area

in the summer and then entertain these friends at her home in Arizona during the winter

months. Shirley was a member of the St. George Catholic Church in Apache Jct, AZ.

Shirley is survived by her children, Joel (Cindy Peterson) Splinter of Peoria AZ, Larry

(Georgia) Splinter of Litchfield Park AZ, and Teresa (Steve) Kimson of Venice FL;

Brother, Mike Krause, Milbank SD; Sister, Donna Krause, Hayti SD; Six grandchildren

and 11 great grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and nine step-great grandchildren.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bob; son, Tim Splinter; Sisters

Rose Marie Wiseman and Joyce Kruse; Brothers, Harlan, Duane, and Jimmy Krause.
