

Tiang Ping “TP” Chia, 84, passed away on November 25th in Chandler, Arizona.
TP was born in Sungai Besar, Malaysia, and spent his early life in Kuala Lumpur, where he met his beloved wife, Oi Chun Lee (Ivy Chia), with whom he shared a devoted 52-year marriage until her passing in 2018. His passion for education led him to the United States, where he ultimately earned a Doctorate in Political Science from East Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas.
TP is survived by his son, Charles, Charles’ wife, Michelle, and his daughter, Connie, and Connie’s husband, Lee Kiat. He was a cherished grandfather to Kerstin, Michaela, Ethan, Caitlyn, and Hayley.
His legacy is highlighted by his passion for educating young people—not only in the English language but also in the essential principles of life. Through his teaching, he shaped the lives of countless students with patience, wisdom, and compassion.
He will be remembered with deep love and gratitude by his family and all whose lives were enriched by his wisdom and kindness
