Tryna was born in Chicago, Illinois, on April 22, 1954. She is survived by her loving husband of more than thirty-seven years, Joseph Pizzicaroli, along with her father, James Maddux, her older sister, Jena Burges, and her younger brother, Kurt Maddux, as well as a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and close friends.
A graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder, Tryna brought common sense, compassion, and intuitive people skills to everything she was involved in. As a volunteer with Hospice, she excelled at providing support and comfort to grieving families. And, on numerous occasions, her practical expertise quietly served the needs of friends and family members as they faced difficult transitions and major life challenges.
From her mother, Nina Garner Maddux, Tryna learned a love of needlework. As a gifted quilter, she was especially creative in giving new life to vintage textiles, including their incorporation into the stunning quilts and other fabric art that she made for so many of those she loved. Tryna also brought her artistic sensibility to the design, decoration, and furnishing of the beautiful homes she shared with her beloved husband.
Tryna and Joe also shared a love of international travel. They explored Egypt, France, and Scotland, and Tryna especially enjoyed travelling to England, feeling a special affinity for London.
A passionate animal lover, over the years Tryna and her husband adopted six mixed-breed dogs of their own as rescues. Additionally, working with a local animal rescue organization, they home-fostered, trained, and ultimately found good forever homes for five special-needs rescue dogs.
Tryna was an exceptionally kind, generous and loving soul who gave much of herself to her extensive network of close friends. Her smile and personality absolutely lit up any room she found herself in.
She was a very special person and is sorely missed by all who knew her. We hope she finds comfort and solace and purpose on the other side, and we are all confident we will ultimately be reunited someday. Until then, may you rest in peace, our darling Tryna.
A celebration of life for Tryna will be held Monday, March 6, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Lakeshore Mortuary, 1815 South Dobson Road, Mesa, Arizona 85202.
