

Vivian Lucille Ankenbauer, Mesa, AZ, passed away on March 11, 2016 in Mesa at the age of 87. She was born on January 2, 1929 in Kenmare, North Dakota to Henry and Ruth (Landis) Schammel. She married Forrest Ankenbauer in Kenmare, North Dakota on June 6, 1949. Forrest and Vivian owned and operated the Minnewaukan Lumber Yard in Minnewaukan, North Dakota until they retired in 1980. They spent the summers in North Dakota and wintered in Arizona for many years. Vivian made her permanent home in Mesa, Arizona in 1997.
Vivian is survived by her children Keith Ankenbauer, Karolyn Roebuck (Gene), Karla Nelson (Greg), Kraig Ankenbauer and Kevin Ankenbauer (Donna); grand-children Haakon, Chelsey, Chance, Cierra, Jordan, Braeden, Jessica, Nicole, Kristian, Matthew, Joshua and Jaden; great-grandchildren, Kaidyn, Parker, Wyatt, Brooks, Maxson, Hunter, Riley, Addyson, and Aspyn.
Vivian is preceded in death by her husband Forrest Ankenbauer, her parents, Henry & Ruth Schammel, sister, Odell Anderson, brother, Levi Schammel, grandson Brett Roebuck and granddaughter’s husband, Roman Ballard.
Services celebrating her life will be held on March 19, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Care, 400 S. Power Road, Mesa, AZ 85206. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest; Saturday, April 30, 2016, 2:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 210 62nd Avenue NW, Minot, North Dakota.
