

Abraham Mendez, age 75, passed away on February 25, 2024 in Dallas, Texas. He was born on March 15, 1948 in San Luis Potosí, Mexico to Casimiro Mendez and Nieves Ortiz. Abraham was raised in Tapona, San Luis Potosí, Mexico. He was one of 14 children. He married Irma Mendez in 1992 and the couple had four children: Abraham Mendez Jr., Irma Fernandez, Noe Mendez, and David Mendez. He was a superintendent at Archer Western Construction, where he worked for more than 30 years. As a child, he grew up in poverty and learned to grow his own vegetables. He raised cattle at only six years old. Abraham never finished elementary school, and instead, worked his entire life. He moved to the US in search of a better life in 1979. In his spare time he enjoyed playing basketball and gardening. His family and friends will always remember him as a hard working man who enjoyed the outdoors. He will be remembered as a provider to his family, who never missed a day of work. With admirable work ethic, Abraham enjoyed his work so much that he refused to retire. He found joy in playing with his grandkids and great grandkids. He often made people laugh, he was always ready to crack a joke. Abraham expressed his love by giving everyone a silly nickname. He will be missed and will always have a special place in our hearts.
A visitation for Abraham will be held Monday, March 4, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Anderson-Clayton-Gonzalez Funeral Home, 1111 Military Pkwy, Mesquite, Texas 75149. A rosary will occur Monday, March 4, 2024 at 6:30 PM, 1111 Military Pkwy, Mesquite, Texas 75149. A funeral mass will occur Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 1:30 PM at St Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 8131 Military Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75227. A burial will occur Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 3900 Rowlett Rd, Rowlett, Texas 75149.
