Gladys Marie Chaffin

Gladys Marie Chaffin was born January 18, 1929 to Bert Coats Sr. and Bessie Weyrich Coats Wall in Harrisburg, Texas. She graduated from Winnsboro High School in 1945. She married Vernon Sanford Chaffin April 24, 1948. Together they had three children (Mary, Jerry Wayne and John (Greg)). For many years before returning to work as a bookkeeper she was very active in PTA, was a Cub Scout leader and gave swim lessons often using John as her swim dummy. She retired from Equitable Lend Lease in 1994. Gladys was a member of Oates Drive Baptist Church. She was a Sunday school teacher. Gladys enjoyed spending time with her family always making a point to attend as many extracurricular activities as possible to see her grandchildren. Gladys loved finding out new things about her family through genealogy research. She enjoyed reading, musicals and movies. Gladys will be missed but her memory will live on.

Gladys is preceded in death by mother Bessie, father Bert Sr, sister Dorothy, brother Bert Jr., husband Vernon and daughter Mary. She is survived by sons Jerry Wayne Chaffin and John Chaffin, daughter-in-law Roberta Chaffin, son-in-law Henry Morris, grandsons Patrick Morris, Troy Morris and Shawn Chaffin, granddaughter Crystal Chaffin, great granddaughter Kristee Chaffin, great grandsons Chase Chaffin, William Chaffin and Jonathon Chaffin.
