James Robert Crocker was born on January 2, 1955 in Dallas, Texas to Oliver Lee Crocker & Ernestine Henson. He was one of eight children who grew up in Dallas, later moving to Odessa, TX. Having eight siblings was an adventure in itself; never a dull moment. There was no TV, technology or other media, so he and all his siblings would play outside often with each other. At times several siblings would form an alliance against the others, but James never wanted to take a side. He would just play by himself, until we stopped arguing.
James attended elementary school in Dallas, but attended high school in Odessa. Soon after he left school, James enlisted in the United States Army and served in Germany. In order to provide for himself and his family, James worked hard as a sheet metal mechanic. Later in his life, when he was living alone, James was called to come visit his brother, William, who lived in Belton, TX. James came by bus and William asked him to stay, so he did. Belton was James' home, until he moved back to Dallas in 2007.
James was a loving, generous man who was always willing to help others. He enjoyed playing bingo or playing hand held games at home. He loved country music and watching scary movies on TV. James was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life…fishing, eating home-cooked meals and most importantly, spending time with family.
On Tuesday, August 12, 2014 James Robert Crocker left this Earthly life to be with his parents, Oliver & Ernestine Crocker; his sister Peggy Crocker Harris; and his brothers, William Louis Crocker & Francis Oliver Crocker.
His life will continue to be honored and celebrated by his son, Robert “Bobby” Crocker and his wife Jamie; his grandchildren: Hannah, Jocelyn & Jamie Crocker; his brothers: Thomas Earl Crocker, Larry Wayne Crocker & Ernest Ray Crocker; his sister: Trannie Louise Crocker-McFarland; and many more nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends.
