

Jean was raised in Hooks, Texas. After graduation she was accepted to and attended business college in Dallas, Texas, where she met her future husband at a USO dance. She married Willis G. Scott in 1952, in South Carolina where W. G. was stationed. After his discharge, the couple relocated to Mesquite, Texas where they welcomed 3 children.
Jean worked as a secretary for the Mesquite Independent School District for more than 30 years. She officially retired in 1997. However, Jean continued to substitute for the school district for many years. Additionally, she was an active volunteer at the Veterans Administration (VA), the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) organization, and annually at the Texas State Fair. She also was very devoted to her Episcopal Church.
After retirement, in between visiting with family, taking some college courses purely for the love of learning. Jean loved traveling. She was able to travel extensively to locales such as Turkey, Greece, The Mediterranean, Germany, Ireland, Australia, and Alaska.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Alice Tuck; her two brothers Charles and Richard and her husband W. G. Scott. She is survived by her children, Lynn Houck, Bruce Scott and Melissa McCorkle; her 9 grandchildren;Terri, Matthew, Joshua, Ashley, Amber, Nicole, Sean, Phillip and Derek; 8 great-grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild.
A graveside service and burial for Jean E. Scott will be held at 10am on May 15 at Laurel Oaks Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Mesquite, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the VA and/or the DAV in memoriam of her dedication to these organizations.
