

Thankachen was born on January 28, 1942, in Vengal, Thiruvella to Abraham Kunniparambil and Mariamma Abraham. He studied at MGM High School in Thiruvella and left Kerala in his early twenties to central India. He worked for Madhya Pradesh Station Governance in Bhilai. There, he met his future wife, Thankamma, and after marriage in 1970, moved to Bihar where he worked for Hindustan Steel Limited. In 1977, he immigrated to the U.S. with his two young sons joining his wife in Philadelphia. In 1981, he moved his family to Dallas where he spent the rest of his working life. After retirement, he moved to Kerala for several years and returned to the U.S. in 2014.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Ponnamma and is survived by his wife Thankamma, son Soji (wife Leena, children: Nithanial, Rebecca, and Isaiah) and son Roji (wife Romy, children: Zeek and Zack).
His Christian faith and the Church were central to his life. Thankachen was a founding member of St. Mary’s Malankara Catholic Church in Dallas. He was active in the Church and served as a lay leader and in various committee positions.
Thankachen was always a caring, kind, loving, and responsible husband. As a father he was ever present and always devoted to helping his children and grandchildren. He is known to his extended family, friends, and Church family for his warm presence and his desire to be of service. His presence will be deeply missed, yet his love and faith remain with us.

A Funeral Service will take place at St Mary's Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, 2650 E Scyene Rd, Mesquite, TX 75181, US, on May 11, 2026, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.
A Committal Service will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 3900 Rowlett Road, Rowlett, TX 75088, US, on May 11, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
