Juan Antonio Garza

He was born January 17,1939 in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico to Roberto L. Garza and Leonor Martinez. Juan (Tony) was raised in Nuevo Laredo. He married Gloria Coronado in 1961 and the couple had 3 children. He was a baker at Baylor where he worked for more than 21 years.

In his spare time Tony enjoyed reading, watching history and science fiction on tv.

His family and friends will always remember him as a caring, selfless, charitable and a hard working man that worked tirelessly for his family.

Tony, as most people knew him, owned Pleasant Grove Bakery for 20+ years. He arrived at 3 A.M., 7 days a week to ensure his customers had the freshest pan dulce, donuts, and hot coffee ready. He enjoyed road trips and overseas travel with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed family get togethers and Sunday dinners with his family and always providing a sweet treat dessert.

At Christmas, while working at Baylor, he would single handedly build a village of gingerbread houses and buildings and meticulously create the penguins, snowmen, and all other little creatures that he would think of.

He is preceded in death by his father, Roberto L Garza; mother, Leonor Martinez; sister, Leonor Garza Camazos; and wife, Gloria Coronado Garza.

He is survived by his sons, Samuel Enoch Garza and Roberto Antonio Garza (spouse, Adriana Garza); daughter, Melinda Gloria Roberts (spouse, Kyle Roberts); grandchildren, Samuel Luis Garza (spouse, Delia Garza), Christian Antonio Garza-Wilson (spouse, Ridge Garza-Wilson), Victoria Marie Garza, Austin Anthony Roberts, Ashley Erin Roberts, Roberto Antonio Garza Jr., and Jacob Matthew Garza; and great-grandchildren, Alexis Michelle Garza, Samuel Luis Garza Jr., and Gracen Dempster.

A visitation for Juan will be held Friday, April 25, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Anderson-Clayton-Gonzalez Funeral Home, 1111 Military Pkwy, Mesquite, TX 75149.

A funeral will occur Monday, April 28, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 1111 Military Pkwy, Mesquite, TX 75149.

Juan will be laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery, 3900 Rowlett Road, Rowlett, TX 75088-5016 on Monday, April 28, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM.
