Louisa Diaz Morales was born on August 19, 1928 in Houston, TX to Ramón and Concepción Diaz. As the eldest daughter of 13 children, she overcame humble beginnings through her strength and perseverance. With a primary education, she forged a pathway to success for herself and all who knew her. In her quest for independence, she learned how to drive and did so until 2024. Even at the rehab facility, she was concerned that her driver’s license was expiring because she always had places to go and people to see.
Louisa was known for her strength, generosity, and devout faith. She had a deep love for her family, and those who knew her will always remember her ability to uplift their spirits. She was forever thinking of family and friends by sending out cards inscribed with warm messages. At Christmas, you could always count on a gift under the tree from “Santa Louisa”. Her generosity wasn’t limited to family. She had a servant heart for those in need, especially the elderly and vulnerable.
She was a devoted wife to Jesse Morales for 41 years, loving parent to 12 children, and cherished grandmother to numerous generations of descendants. Her family was the heart of her life, and she found fulfillment in cooking for them. She enjoyed cooking tamales, caldo, buñuelos, mole, and if it were a special occasion, enchiladas. She loved all kinds of food, especially catfish, nopales, chicharrones, frijoles, and potatoes with “salsita” of course. The list could go on and on because food was her love language.
She also found joy in growing herself and serving others. This was demonstrated in her work with Dallas ISD, the City of Dallas, and the Altar Society at St. Edwards Catholic Church. She was often praised and recognized for her exemplary work ethic, earning employee of the month multiple times. She exemplified Martin Luther King Jr.’s adage, “If a man is called to be a streetsweeper, he should sweep streets so well that all of the hosts of heaven and earth will have to pause and say here lived a great street sweeper who swept his job well”.
With a history as a migrant farmer, she had a passion for cultivating herbs and seasonal flowers. If you drove past her house, odds were you’d find her in her garden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her children Joe, Olga, Jessie, Rudy, Irene, her grandson Isaac, and her siblings Maria, Candelario, Chavela, Max, Trino, Soledad, Juanita, Cruz, and Pete.
She is survived by her children Gloria (Angel) Silos, Helen (Carlos) Lovato, Johnny Morales, Sulema (Steve) Robledo, Henry (David) Morales, Esther Trejo, Andrew (MaryAnn) Morales, her many grandchildren, and her siblings Mike (Dominga) Diaz, Frank (Christina) Diaz, and Soledad San Miguel.
Louisa Diaz Morales, age 96, of Dallas, TX, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 2, 2025. Now, she’s with her heavenly father, “how bout that!”
