Richard Weldon Wilson went to be with the Lord on March 20, 2020. Weldon was born on August 9, 1929 in Rockwall, Texas. His parents were Olen Wilson and Freda Moore Wilson. He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother, all deceased.
Weldon loved the Lord and loved to go to church and Sunday school, where he enjoyed fellowship of many friends over the years.
He graduated from Crozier Tech High School in 1947 and attended Draughn’s Business College.
He served in the United States Navy as a 3rd Class Fire Control Technician aboard the USS Mississippi during the Korean War.
Weldon married Jean McCrory (deceased) and they had three children:
Richard Wilson and wife Carol,
Gale Prado and husband Joe,
Bryan Wilson and wife Carol,
Weldon married Marita Wilson, who had two children:
Sharon Englert and husband David,
Susan Saunders and husband Jimmy,
They have 9 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 3 step-great-grandchildren, who call him “Papaw.” He loved all of them dearly. He and Marita were married for 41 years.
Weldon worked for Stevenson Printing Company, running the printing presses, and he also worked in printing sales for 35 years. Later, he bought a farm between Wolfe City and Leonard, where he raised cows and enjoyed fishing, riding on his tractor, and the quiet of the country. He took his Blue Heeler dog with him to help round up the cows.
Weldon was a member of the Mesquite Lodge for 40 years and was a member of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church. He cherished his family and many good friends over the years.
