Robert Lee Austin

Robert Lee Austin, 89, of Dallas, TX passed away peacefully on Friday, January 23, 2015 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Carrollton. He was born in Mesquite, TX to the late Willis Gary Austin Sr. and Geneva Mae Austin. Robert graduated from Mesquite High School and joined the US Navy where he served in the Pacific during World War II. He then married the love of his life Lorene, and they made Dallas their home where they raised their two children Jill and Roddy. Robert was an incredibly intelligent hardworking man who enjoyed and worked as an administrator for the US Postal Service. In his spare time he enjoyed cattle ranching, water skiing, and boating. He was committed to his wife, family, and his faith. He was a member of Holy Covenant United Methodist Church and formerly Urban Park United Methodist Church. Robert is preceded in death by his beloved wife Lorene G. Austin; infant son Todd Austin; sisters Darlene Moore and Mary Stranglin. He is survived by his Daughter Jill and husband Daniel Zambrano; son Roddy and wife Laurie Austin; grandchildren Ashley Zambrano, Kristen Zambrano, and Evan Austin; brother Willis and wife Kaye Austin; sister in law Hazel Kornegay; as well as his numerous loving nieces, nephews, and other friends.
