Samuel Alfred Sweeney, Jr., age 67, passed away on September 21, 2021 in Dallas, Texas. He was born on July 26, 1954 in Hammond, LA to Samuel Sweeney Sr. and Dora Sweeney. Sam was raised in Hammond, LA and graduated from Hammond High School in 1972.
He served in the United States Marine Corps as a USMC Sergeant (E-5) and has four years of dedicated service. Sam married Ivette Elizondo in 1973 and the couple had two children. Sam was an aviation mechanic for more than 49 years.
In his spare time Sam enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, traveling, taking care of his garden, spending time with family, and working on cars.
His family and friends will always remember him as a godly, good, kind, and compassionate man.
He is preceded in death by his father, Samuel Alfred Sweeney Sr.; his mother, Dora Dean Sweeney; and his sisters, Faye Criswell and Catherine Carruth.
Sam is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ivette Sweeney; his sons, Steven Hector Sweeney and Jonathan David Sweeney; four grandchildren, Julia, Marie, Ruth, and Liam; along with three nieces, three nephews, and numerous cousins.
