My deepest condolences to the Torres family, I had the honor to have worked for Steve at the Arboretum.  He was truly a great man. 
 
He was so great that this quote comes to mind:

He had such a gift that hit all three, we won’t forget what he said, his legacy is so amazing we won’t forget what he did, and for sure we won’t forget how he made us feel. 

Thank you for sharing your husband, daddy, grandpa and papa Torres.

My prayers go out to the family of Steve. This was a good man. He gave me an opportunity and taught me alot. We spoke many times during the State Fair and he kept me laughing with his jokes. He will be missed.

My sincere condolences to Steve Torres’ beautiful family that I had the pleasure of meeting. Steve was my husband Eddie Olivarri’s best friend growing up on the Southside of San Antonio. I was the lucky one to have known two great men (brother’s they would call each other). Steve was so much fun always laughing and cutting up. Steve could light up a room and didn’t know a stranger.  It was my husband that went with Steve to apply for the Dallas Police Department. You think that would have kept them away from each other.  It didn’t. When Steve would come into San Antonio to see his parents he would come to see us too. They played guitar together sang together we just had great times. When my Eddie passed away Steve was  right by our side carrying his brother to his resting place.  Steve kept up with us calling and just trying to keep up with his best friend’s family. Such a wonderful man. Great memories that we will never forget. May you Rest In Peace my long time friend.

My sincere condolences to Steve’s family.
My memories of Steve go back several decades.  We grew up in San Antonio, He lived two doors  from us on Sims Avenue. Steve and I along with our older brothers, Andrew Richard and his brother, Jesse were friends. When not attending Graebner Elementary, we flew kites and played in our backyards. We attended Burbank High School.  Steve and I worked at the same burger drive-in .  After the Viet Nam era, I started my career with the Dallas Police Department. A few years later, Steve did likewise.  I worked in Crimes Against Persons, and Steve was in a Specialized Division. 
We lived through changing times as kids, teens, and adults, I will miss a decades long friend.

Dear Torres Family, 
I was so sorry to hear of your loss. I worked with Steve during his assignment to the International Terrorism Squad in Dallas. It was so good to see him a few years ago when my husband and I ran into him at the Dallas Arboretum. He was full of laughter and cheer. RIP Steve, you will be dearly missed.

Steve was my mentor as a brand new law enforcement officer on the FBI Task Force in Dallas. I was so blessed to have him in my life as a guide! A true renaissance man of many talents from art to singing with a hilarious sense of humor.  I used many of his jokes over the years and although my delivery was not as good as his …it always brightened the day.

We did a lot of work together protecting America and the citizens of Dallas.  I have no doubt he is guarding the gates of heaven so we all may make a safe journey.  RIP Brother!

To the family of Steve, thank you so much for sharing him with us.  I only got to work with him for a short time at the Arboretum.  But up until even a few weeks ago, his name still comes up as someone we wish was still there.  Every time you would see him, your mood would instantly change, because you know he was gonna make you laugh or brighten your day.  Steve had a gift, that you can’t buy or learn.   I pray for your family, peace and understanding in this difficult time.  Pray that God heals your broken hearts and wipes away all your tears.  Let light perpetual shine upon you, Steve!

We have been blessed to be neighbors of the Torres family for almost 30 years.  Steve was always a blessing to us as we grew our family.  His many shared peices of wisdom have been a great guidence.  We will miss him deeply.

I always said that the only thing I liked about the arboretum was the people I work with, and Steve was a prime example. In my 6 years of working with Steve, much to his chagrin, I came to see him as the grandfather I never had. His visits by the “bat cave” were always a riot. At times, I couldn’t tell if the stories he shared from his police days were really as crazy as he made them out to be, but he always had us on the edge of our seats. I remember his love for his wife, his kids, and especially his grand babies. May Steve rest in peace, knowing he was loved and cared for by many people around him. And I offer my sincerest condolences to his wonderful family.

I know the feeling of losing a loved one and no words of sympathy seem sufficient to help ease the grief.  Simply put, I just want all of family to know that I praying that God will help you now and in the days ahead. God Bless All of You.

I am so sorry for your loss.  I thought Steve was a such a nice and good person.  I will never forget his kindness at the time of my daughter’s death.  May you take comfort in your memories

Steve was such a wonderful friend to me when I worked for the Dallas Arboretum. He always had a smile on his face and loved to laugh. He was genuinely concerned about everyone and readily offered his assistance whenever needed. I’m thankful to have known him. Steve will be missed.
