

Steve Torres, age 76, passed away on Friday, January 26th, 2024, peacefully at his home in Mesquite, TX. He was born on April 2nd, 1947 in San Antonio, TX to Margaret Posos and Jesus Torres. Steve was also raised in San Antonio where he attended and graduated from Burbank High School in 1965. He spent four years (1966-1970) in the United States Air Force with the rank of a Sergeant primarily stationed in Charleston, South Carolina. He spent much of his time servicing the aircrafts going to and returning from Vietnam.
He married LaVonna Jones Torres in 1977, and the couple had 3 daughters. He was a Dallas Police Officer and Detective for 32 years, where he was a great friend and colleague to everyone who he worked with. He had many stories, plenty of advice, and made a lasting impact on everyone he met.
Steve lived a full and vibrant life where he held instructional police courses, dedicated himself to the Dallas Police Choir, and worked as head of security at the Dallas Arboretum for 14 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed staying busy with his artistic hobby of drawing and painting, and staying busy with his hands doing projects around his home. He loved spending time with his family and cooking for those he loved.
He is survived by wife LaVonna Torres, daughters Michelle Torres Loera (spouse Jesse Loera), Stefani Torres (spouse Larry Garza), and Kristal Torres Nabhan (spouse Ali Nabhan). As well as 7 grandchildren, Ashley Morris Loera, Branden Loera (partner Lis Hayward), Zac Loera (spouse Paige Loera),Gabriella Loera, Christian Jaynes, Lexi Jaynes (spouse Jordan Holloway), Zane Nabhan, and Ayden Nabhan. Lastly, 4 great-children, Julius Morris, Archie Loera, Vivian Loera, Marlowe Loera, Phoebe Loera and Arii Morris Loera.
His family and friends will always remember him as a dedicated Husband, Daddy, Grandpa, and Papa Torres. His innate ability to never meet a stranger and light up every room he walked into, will never be forgotten and always be cherished. We love you and will be walking beside you on the streets of glory soon.
Memorial Service will be held at Anderson Clayton Gonzalez on Friday, February 2, 2024, at
2pm in 1111 Military Pkwy, Mesquite, TX 75149.
